About the Pedigree

Pomona´s sire, 1638 Piastr, was bred by Stavropol studfarm in 1998. He passed impressive racing career as 2-4 years old, winning Great Prize of 2 years old, Prize of Gelishikli, Dagestan, Summer, Open, Everdy Teleke, 2nd placed in Prize of Absent, Budennyi, Mazan, Yulduz, 3rd finished in Derby, Elite, etc. He was evaluated by 9,5 points from 10 for performance. Except that he placed 4th as a 2 years old at the Championship of Russia and later aquired the title of Reserve Champion of Russia (2002). It would be hard to overcome him as a sire of succesful racing horses - it is not possible to list all of them, but let´s mention at least Derby winner Platan, Redjeli, Rakhman, Persefona, Obereg, Osnova, Rarog, Graviura, Pallada, Patshagul or Zhemchug.

Sire of Piastr, dark buckskin 1095 Polot, was born in 1985 in Turkmenistan. He was one of three full brothers sired by Sovkhoz 2 (participant of all three contemporary ultralong distance rides)- two others were Melekulan and 1079 Melesur. Polot´s breeding career started in Dagestan, but he was used also at Stavropol studfarm. His sire´s career was succesful - with mares of different pedigrees and types he produced offspring with very good racing class, same as high number of breed champions. Many of his sons became succesful sires themselves - let´s mention at least Palvan, Alaman, Amuzgi, Duburlan, Nart, Keppan or Desmal.

Dam of Piastr, legendary 2434 Pudokhan, was born in 1982 at the studfarm Dagestanskii, but her name is connected with Stavropol studfarm. She is dam of 15 foals, including Perengistan (succesful at the racetrack), World champion Pelen or Russian Junior champion Khanbegler.

Pomona´s dam, 3778 Olimpia, was born in 1997 at TOO Ptichii Rynok (later formed to Akhal-Service studfarm). In 2002 she became Word Reserve Junior among mares. She is dam of two foals only, breeding stallion 1611 Opium and Pomona.

Olimpia´s sire 1228 Maksut 2 was born in 1989 at the studfarm Dagestanskii as the middle one out of three Omar-Mushmula siblings (in 1988 was born mare Marta, later dam of succesful miler Mamai, in 1989 was born Melana, double winner of Prize of Association, 4th placed in 120km endurance competition and later dam of GP stallion Makka Shael).

Maksut 2 produced five seasons at the studfarm Akhalt-Service, sired 17 foals including World Champion Omelia (2001), World Reserve champion Olimpia (2002), World Junior Reserve champion Omega, 4th placed at the World championship, mare Simfonia (Simfonia is the dam of succesful dressage horse Gaiduvsyz Shah and mare Savanna Shah, who became the dam of two European champions - stallion Safar and filly Samira), Virtual World champion Stambul, who was also competing in endurance up to 80km level . Another descendants of Maksut placed at the World championship, were Karakhan (placed 3rd and 5th) and Mikhman.

Olimpia´s dam 2878 Opera was bron in 1990 at the studfarm Stavropol and later was sold to Akhalt-Service studfarm. In connection with Maksut 2 she gave succesful show horses (see above).

Pomona belongs to family founded by Turkmen mare, bay 1310 Ovgan (458 Lachin-929 Silfa). This family gives good performance horses - Ovgan herself is dam of 1800m record holder 910 Opal. Let´s also mention mare 1631 Oktava - dam of excellent racehorse Omar or stallion Orlan, 2875 Oliva - dam in U.S. in cross-country competing Sengar, 2879 Oprava-dam of Derby winner Ormuzd and also World champion Garayusup, 2871 Oinam 20 - dam of doubler winner of Turkmenistan Prize Gumon,  2020 Olvia, dam of  Solms free jumping and  World Virtual Champion 1607 Ovoi, then Osanka - dam of double Winner Obereg and Russian Junior champion Osnova, etc.).
